Samsung to launch the Galaxy Fold 2 on 5th August 2020

The South Korean giant has confirmed that the Galaxy Fold 2 will launch on August 5 along with the Galaxy note 2 series. The company posted on its twitter handle to confirm the launch putting end to all speculations. Samsung have also shared a butterfly logo of the galaxy fold and wrote

“A new look unfolds “ followed by the date

Earlier it was speculated that Samsung will not be launching its next generation galaxy fold 2 smartphone at the galaxy Unpacked event which will be held on august 5th as the software wasn’t close to ready

The Samsung galaxy fold 2 is expected to feature in a 7.7inch display with a 120hz refresh rate and a 6.23 inch display on the outside compared to 7.3 inch of the fold 1. This is confirmed to be the first foldable smartphone of the company with a 120hz refresh rate. The display will also be a Super AMOLED(Y-OCTA).

The Samsung Galaxy Fold 2 will be powered by a Snapdragon 865+ SoC which is expected to carry a dual battery setup with a combined capacity of 4365mAh and support for 15W fast wireless charging a 15W fast reverse wireless charging. As far as security goes it will be equipped with a side-mounted fingerprint scanner.

On the camera front Galaxy Z Fold 2 is rumoured to feature a 10-megapixel sensor both on the inside and the outside. The triple camera setup on the back would feature a 64-megapixel telephoto lens, a 12-megapixel sensor with ultra-wide lens and another 12-megapixel sensor with a wide-angle lens. As for the selfie camera it will have a punch hole display.

As for the pricing we will have to wait for the kick-off on August 5 at 7:30pm ist but the rumoured price for the device is around 174,999rs.
